Piedmont

Charmingly suburban, with a downtown that feels like the best of small-town America, Piedmont has appeal for all types of homeowners. Piedmont is located in Oakland, but is a separate city, and has its own government, schools, and taxes. There are smaller homes in Lower Piedmont, mostly from the 1920s and ’30s, larger modern style homes in Upper Piedmont, and large classic homes in the Central area - this particular section was known as the “City of Millionaires” early in the 20th century. No matter what part of Piedmont, residents enjoy a sense of community and charm.

Families appreciate the exemplary Piedmont City Schools - there are 3 elementary, 1 middle, and 1 high school, all highly rated nationally. The area has a lot to offer young families - a thriving recreational center program, sports programs, community pool, skate park and lots of recreation within a short distance.

Other residents appreciate the ease of commuting, while enjoying life in the foothills. There’s a popular “Casual Carpool” for those heading into San Francisco, and the city is well-situated for accessing Walnut Creek, Berkeley, and Oakland.

Pretty, hilly, and filled with well-built houses, Piedmont is ever popular, and in high demand amongst homebuyers who hope to marry the benefits of suburban living with the opportunities provided by easy urban access.
